Our duty to the country does not end just because we have already exercised our right to vote. To attain what they cry, these newly elected public servants needs support. Our commitment to our nation is as equal as to those who are seated. So quit whining about this candidate should be or not be in his or her position now, or how there goes progress down the drain or how stupid the election has turned out. It is done. Let’s not just see what happens, be one of the reason why something great will happen. Let us all start acting up for a better Philippines.

My April BDJ Box

I’ve been ogling for the past two days at BDJ Box‘s page and twitter trying to see if someone else has posted their unboxing of this month’s box because I cannot wait to take a look at what’s inside the April Box. To my surprise a while ago, my mom handed me a big parcel saying “Ano na naman ba binili mo?” lol. I had to explain to her everything while unboxing and she actually liked the concept, not to mention the products! So Mom’s a Bella now too, I suppose! ;)

This month’s theme is “Oh, so Fresh” and the box is full and I mean FULL of goodies that we need to stay fresh and fun under the summer sun! 6 out of 9 products are full sized plus I’m guessing everyone one got a little something aside from what’s inside of the box itself.

Happiness! :D

Already used two stickers :) I’m thinking of joining the BDJ Box Sticker Promo. B)

Inside the beauty loot (gonna include a simple review on some products I already tried on).

1. Celeteque Hydrolized Moisturing Mist, 120 ml (full size) Php 349.00

Fresh Spritz! Beat the heat with a mist! Tried this just for fun and yes, I did feel instantly refreshed. I love how it made my face feel soft and moisturized; not a fan of the scent though but it’s bearable. This is perfect for beach trips when you feel dry and sticky from playing and swimming under the sun, a spritz and you’re good to go!

2. Avon Anew 360 White Day Cream, 30 ml (full size) Php 799.00

White Radiance. Get rid of impurity and transform into a flawless skin. I’ve been looking for whitening products for a time now and just what a perfect timing! I’ve known and used some Avon products and I’ve seen this from their brochure but I never got interested in it. Haven’t tried this yet. Still using L’oreal Youth Code Pre-Essence which I got from the last box and Garnier Light cream. I’m glad the box included samples from the other Anew 360 products. Gonna try this after I emptied the two!

3. Avon SSS Glutathione Lotion with Marula, 250 ml (full size), Php 350.00

Feel the Difference!  Infuse your skin with a powerful moisturizer! With Georgina Wilson promoting this product, of course you have to have it! lol. Again, perfect timing. Tried this and it feels so smooth on your skin but it doesn’t absorb quickly so it gives you that creamy feel on your hand and body? Some may find it bothersome especially when working but hey, tiis gandaaa!!

4. Garnier Light Intensive 3 in 1 Whitening Essence Mask, 19 ml (full size), Php 89.00

Glowing Beauty. Reveal radiant and hydrated skin! Excited to try this goodie! Perfect for my pamper days. And another whitening product! I got really dull skin and I look so tired all the time this might be the product to give my face a nice refreshing lift!

5. Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy in Satellite, 7.68 ml (full size), Php 375.00

Cosmic Nails! Have a rocky candy finish with Revlon’s limited edition nail art duos! My personal fave from the bunch! I like doing my nails and this is really handy for me! Fell in love with last month’s box’s L’oreal Color Riche Nail Art and now this! I mean what’s not to love? Can’t wait to paint my nails again, and with this, the possibilities of cool nail art are endless!

6. Bifesta Age Care Cleansing Lotion, 300 ml, Php 419.00

Cleanse & Nourish. Conveniently remove your makeup with the power of oil cleansing minus the oily feeling! What is included is a smaller one rather than full size. This is my first makeup remover since normally I just use facial wash or scrub to completely wash my makeup. lol. This should be good, I’m excited to use this too.

7. Selena Gomez Eau de Parfum, 100 ml, Php 2,950.00 (2 ml sample size)

Fresh and Sweet. Selena Gomez in a bottle! :D lol Oooh, perfume sample. The scent is a bit too sweet for me at the beginning, too fruity. But then when it sets it becomes bearable and turns to an earthy, flowery blend. Less is more. I could wear this occasionally. Like on a date or an event.

8. Goody Slide-Proof Pins and Elastics, Php 449.75 (4 pins, 2 elastics)

Hair in Style. Fix your hair in style! Missing one elastic? That’s because I’m already using it! :D Been dying to own a Goody product but the price tag too pricey to afford. Thanks again BDJ Box, my bad hair days are saved. The band has a strong hold even the pins too. Well, what can you expect from Goody? ;)

9. Candi Nail Polish Remover Wipes, 30 pcs, Php 65.00 (full size)

Nail Buddy! No mess, no spill – just easy to use. This is a bonus item! I have tried these, because I painted one nail using Revlon Nail Art (yes, excited lang) and it’s nice, easily removes nail polish BUT not in one swipe. Lots of swipe. It does stain and the polish transferred on my skin and my hands became sticky plus the wipes dry quickly. :( On the other hand, it’s handy, best for travelling when you have to remove your embarrassingly cracked nail polish. Definitely not suited for long term shelf life, it’ll dry by then.

10. Lucido-L Hair Make Supplement (price undisclosed)

A little something from the BDJ Team. This, along with the handwritten note, I truly appreciate! This was not included in the box but a gift from the BDJ Team (many thanks guys, more power!) I saw from their unboxing, other Bellas receiving one as well. I also have tried it even though on the instructions says it’s best to use it at night. lol. #medyobadgirl But I love it! I have frizzy not to mention dry hair and this product just tames my messy mane. But when you touch your hair it’s a bit oily though. Don’t care because I’m gonna use this frequently!

Goody, Bioessence and Belletoday vouchers!

Since I’m from the province, I can’t really claim the first two if I don’t go to Manila. What I am up for is the belletoday voucher! Aaaah, I super wanna try because I am desperate to be fit. Have to ask though, ’til when will this be valid?

Some might find the box a bit so-so. Judging from the February and March Boxes, you kinda tend to raise your expectations up a notch. But I am still a beauty rookie, looking for new beauty secrets for an affordable cost is my goal at the moment. (I do would love to have another special boxes like the previous ones, though. Heeehee. :3) I am very well satisfied with my box. Such a happy camper and I’m glad I discovered BDJ Box. Now, counting down the days ’til the next box. :)

My First BDJ Box

I first stumbled upon Belle De Jour (BDJ) while reading Tricia Gosingtian’s post about her own February BDJ Box. I got interested and learned more about BDJ and I instant got hooked! What is BDJ you may ask? It’s a monthly beauty subscription box filled with deluxe samples of products from international and local beauty brands! And the best part, it’s only Php 480! This is really handy for me because I tend to splurge and instantly buy beauty products I sometimes really is clueless of. Lol. Yes, I am a beauty rookie, and this is my first time to blog such about beauty products. I subscribed for a 3-month supply of BDJ Box and I even got myself my own BDJ Navi Planner. I love BDJ! They spoil you, really and it is really worth the price. When I first purchased my BDJ Navi Planner, I didn’t know that they were giving away free BDJ Forget-Me-Not Notebook once you purchase a planner. Let’s just say I am always a happy camper when it comes to BDJ. :))

Last day, I finally got my hands on their March BDJ Box which is my first BDJ Box. I was literally dancing and jumping up and down when I saw the package resting on my study table! :D

This month’s BDJ Box theme is Summer Glam and the box houses products which are all from L’Oreal! Because we Bellas, really are worth it. ;)

Sojourn in Singapore

I work as a Yields Researcher. This means I get to explore countries abroad every month – research about their upscale regions, economy and real estate. I cover an average of three to four countries a month depending on the weight of each country. If it has a lot of upscale regions, I get stuck in a country for weeks or if it’s just easy peasy, I stay for a couple of days. My work is really exciting, right? Well, if only I get to explore the country literally and not via world wide web. Lol. Yes, sadly (or maybe not so) my work is home based. And sadly (truly sadly) I only get to research the countries online. :P And you don’t know how much I am willing to go to every country I’ve researched. Ugh. One day. I told myself, just one day. And what do you know… :)

A couple of months back, I researched a small but highly-developed city state of Singapore. I knew some facts about the city, mostly where its upscale regions are and how pricey the rentals can be. The Lion City is one “fine” city, I tell you. It’s a shopping haven, home to constructions in luxurious and mega proportions. Last month, I actually got an opportunity to actually explore the city!! Not thanks to my job, but to my Mom! Heehee (love you, Mom :*) She needs to attend a conference at Singapore yadda yadda the point is she tagged me along! My first trip abroad, amazing! You never really know, last time I was immensely researching through sites and sites about Singapore, now I got the chance to immerse myself on the sights in Singapore! :))

Such an amazing experience. Singapore is a beautiful city and if you’re a first time traveler like me from the Philippines, I really recommend Singapore as your first foreign country to go to.

Because first of all, it’s a widely English speaking Asian country like us. Signs are in English, so you’re not gonna be lost in translation. Singapore is multi-racial city. It’s a cultural melting pot of Chinese, Indian, Malayan, Singaporean, Western and even Filipino! There’s history and culture in every corner and almost everything is a tourist spot! Haha! I swear I took almost a thousand photos in just three days of wandering in SG. It’s a modern picturesque avenue, and Singaporeans really know what they’re doing and they aim only for the best and for development. Everything’s well planned and well thought of. They have the most amazing airport and the most tourist friendly transportation system! (First time traveler here so don’t judge but SRSLY it really is!)

Have to stop for now, this will be a series of blog post. This is only an intro and I think it’s getting to lengthy  At least it’ll fill up my monotonous noob blog! I’m still getting the hang of WordPress, my apologies guys.

I’ve only realized this not until recently that my tag line for my blog on tumblr is “Exploring the world, one click at a time.” Click refers to the camera sound, you know, whatever. And it actually came through if you look at it. I mean I am really exploring the world one click at a time literally because of my job. Ah, Law of Attraction, you do work wonders. For this blog it’s now “To places I will go, with a camera in one hand and yours in another.” And to places I soon hope I will go. :)

P.S. More photos and facts and tips on my next travel posts! :)

Goodbye Tumblr, Hello WordPress

“It is the end of something simple and the beginning of everything else.”

Goodbyes are always bittersweet.

It’s hard to depart from something you’ve held on for years. But what would be the purpose of holding onto something that won’t bring you some sort of productivity or excitement as it did before? I’m not going to grow as a better blogger if I stick to photo blogging pointless shots and just admiring what others posted. It’s hard to say goodbye to tumblr, it will always be a part of my social networking life but you just hafta do it at some point.

I have been ‘tumblogging’ since the dawn of my cyberspace existence. Tumblr was there for me from my wee days of blogging experience where “tumblarity” (latter citizens of this microblogging website may not have experienced or even heard of) was synonymous to the Hunger Games or the Iron Throne where bloggers fight to gain the most number of popularity from the number of likes, follows, etc. This makes or breaks the ego of a blogger, apparently. And those with high tumblarity also means they had no life. Driven by competence I was, I started posting pretty much anything that would alert some interest to my fellow bloggers to hit that heart button. Yes, I used to blog for the sake of likes and attention. Even after the death of tumblarity, I was still posting random photos, reblogging and reblogging again some just to keep the likes and the blog going. My whole tumblog became a reblogging latrine due to the laziness of creating an original post. After quite some time,  I reinvented my tumblog to solely a blog for my own posts. I separated reblogs and also created my own private blog because some of my thoughts are not safe lying around publicly. I continued my blogging, posting once in a while, if ever I have time to post something interesting. Writer’s and creative block constantly hit me and I was in the brink of graduating college resulting to inactivity and loosing some followers along the way. After graduation, I thought I might get my blogging groove back and blog aimlessly of my unemployed life. But heck no. I found I job after a month of slacking and due to the time my job demands, I put my blogging priorities at the back row.

It’s hard to blog when you’re busy doing other stuff. It’s hard to blog when you’re not committed to it in the first place and it’s definitely hard to blog when you’re not inspired.

Tumblr is a great platform for blogging and a great source of creative inspiration but if I want to improve my sense of blogging as well as keep a new online latrine for memories and experiences, I’m heading here, to WordPress. It’s time to get serious. It’s time to get my groove back.

Even if I will say bye-bye to tumblr, I will never delete my tumblog. My whole 4 years of cyberspace memories is written in there!

Welcome to heyalessy.wordpress.com, a space for my travels and rants and daily experiences served with photographs and brief and or lengthy narratives.
